Like any breed of animal there is variation between individuals. It is our goal to identify and selectively breed the individuals in our herd that excel in the traits that make a production animal profitable (mothering ability, parasite resistance, and reproductive efficiency.) We keep detailed and accurate records as well as calculating performance ratios on all our kids. It becomes very clear after reviewing these records over several years which does (and bucks) consistently produce high performing kids. Any animal not up to our standards is quickly culled to the local stockyards. We will never offer a Kiko goat for sale as a breeding animal that we would not be willing to keep in our own herd. Although it varies somewhat from year to year, we typically sale for slaughter 75 % or more of our kid crop.This insures that the remaining kids will be top performers in our herd or yours.
