Our Program
We strive to train horses that are as at home in the show pen as they are on the ranch. Although the foundation of our training system is in the reining horse disipline we go about it a little differently than most. We spend very little time inside an arena, with most of our training done outside around the ranch. We feel that this exposure to a variety of conditions and terrain not only builds confidence in our young horses but also keeps our older horses from getting bored.
We owe the success of our horse program primarily to our ranch manager Newt Webb. Newt came to us with over eight years experience riding top level reining horses. He takes this experience combined with a knowledge of natural horsemanship techniques and adapts it to our facilities and resources. Together our goal is to produce horses with all the foundations of reining but with the versatility of a ranch horse.
We maintain between three and five horses in our training string at any one time. These horses get ridden at least five days a week in all sorts of weather and footing. We use everyday ranch work such as riding fences and checking on livestock to lay a good foundation for more advanced work as their training progresses.
